Jeep Four Wheel Drive: For Your Consideration
It’s that time of year again. The time when the great and good of the showbiz community get to dress up and pat each other on the back for being simply fabulous. Actually, they do that more or less every weekend. But this time it’s actually going to matter. This is the 84th Academy Awards, more commonly known as the Oscars, and the nominations are out.
The thing about award ceremonies is that it’s not always the most worthy nominee that wins. The Shawshank Redemption is now widely heralded and regarded as one of the best films ever made, by fans and critics alike. Yet it didn’t win any of the seven categories for which it was nominated. Titanic, on the other hand, while technically - and in effects terms - was stunning, it probably wouldn’t be top of many people’s all time list. Yet it went away with enough statues to sink an ocean liner (if you’ll pardon the pun).
The moral of the story is this. Awards are always nice. You can’t deny it’s nice to be recognised by your peers for doing a good job. But there’s much more to life than winning awards. The Jeep® Grand Cherokee is the most awarded SUV in history. It’s something that Jeep is, of course, proud of but don’t for one second think that it’s going to rest on its laurels and accept the plaudits. One award doesn’t make a great car. And Jeep knows that the hardest part isn’t getting to the top, it’s staying there. That is the real challenge.
Awards rain down on Jeep four wheel drive vehicles all the time. Jeep 4x4 receives countless each year. It smiles and accepts them graciously. Then puts them in a nice display cupboard and gets back to work doing what it does best: designing the best four-wheel drives in the business. And if some more awards come its way, then that’s fine too.
It’s a lesson that some actors would do well to take on board. Take Cuba Gooding Jr., for example. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for an astonishing performance in 1996’s Jerry Maguire. He had the world at his feet. He could have gone on to be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. And what does he do next? Snow Dogs, Boat Trip and Norbit – three films that received a less than positive response from the critics (to put it mildly).
Staying at the cutting edge of what you do is what takes the real hard work and talent. That’s why Jeep has always been and will always be number one. It’s all about dedication to the craft. Awards are just a bonus.
