Suzuki released the first official images of the all-new Jimny, the latest version of the company’s tiny off-road warrior which will be revealed in full on June 18.

The Japanese company didn’t reveal much about what’s hiding under the boxy bodywork, apart from confirming that the new Jimny still rides on a ladder frame chassis and will be offered in two versions in the Japanese domestic market: the smaller ‘Jimny’ and the ‘Jimny Sierra’.

Suzuki said that all versions of the Jimny will use a part-time all-wheel drive system, as well as a low-range option. A five-speed manual or an optional four-speed automatic transmission will be on offer.

The new Suzuki Jimny will be available in three two-tone color options, as well as five single-tone ones. Judging from the images, we’ll have one in Jungle Green, thank you very much.

The cabin of the new Suzuki Jimny has clearly been inspired by the older Samurai, especially around the instrument cluster area, giving it a utilitarian character which is of course part of the tiny off-roader’s charm.

A seven-inch infotainment system will be present, as well as steering-mounted buttons, automatic climate control, cruise control and more importantly an autonomous emergency braking system. The four-wheel drive system appears to be engaged by a second lever behind the gearbox, which is strange since the outgoing Jimny features buttons on the dashboard.

Further details about the international 2019 Jimny, including availability, are to be released soon, so stay tuned.
