Jeepers creepers! Jeep has announced a concept car that will have you jumping up and down at the mention of what’s under the hood.

A Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, powered by a 6.4L V8 Hemi engine.

Now we won’t get our hopes and dreams up right away as this is a concept car, released hours before Ford’s all-new Bronco reveal but wouldn’t it be nice! The Wrangler concept with a 392 c.i. V8 Hemi engine makes a claimed 450hp (335kW) and 450ft-lb (610Nm) of torque. That results in a claimed 0-100km/h in less than five seconds.

“The new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept is an indication they may soon get their wish,” the company said in a media statement issued overnight after yesterday releasing a blurry image of a bonnet with ‘392’ on it.

“Jeep Wrangler enthusiasts have been asking us for a Wrangler V8, and our new Wrangler Rubicon 392 Concept proves that we have the ability to make that happen,” Jim Morrison, the Jeep brand boss said in a media statement.

They also released some specs on the vehicle, featuring Dana 44 axles, 37-inch mud-terrain tyres, a Jeep Performance Parts two-inch lift kit from Mopar, a full-time two-speed transfer case, electric front and rear diff locks, a more robust eight-speed transmission and, of course, the potent V8 Hemi engine power plant to deliver what Jeep claims as “the ultimate fun-to-drive Jeep vehicle with more off-road capability than ever in a Jeep Wrangler”.

According to Jeep, the two-inch lift kit and 37-inch tyres improve articulation, and provide 337mm of ground clearance and 864mm of water fording capability. They have also improved approach (51.6 degrees), ramp-over (29.5 degrees) and departure (40.1 degrees) angles.

With this new, we hope that Jeep will come out with a V8 Gladiator since the two models are basically the same build. What are your thoughts?
