Tynan Chery Wollongong is gearing up for one of the most exciting SUV launches of 2025 – the arrival of Chery’s all-new plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), dubbed Super Hybrids. These next-generation models promise cutting-edge efficiency, affordability, and driving pleasure, offering a fresh alternative to some of Australia’s most popular hybrid SUVs.

Introducing the Chery Tiggo 7 CSH – Australia’s Most Affordable PHEV?

Expected to arrive in Australian showrooms mid-year, the 2025 Chery Tiggo 7 CSH is poised to become Australia’s most affordable plug-in hybrid SUV. With pricing expected to start at just $42,260 plus on-road costs, it will take direct aim at the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, BYD Sealion 6, and Jaecoo J7 SHS.

This new addition to the Chery Australia line-up features:

    • A 90km electric-only range
    • An 18.3kWh battery
    • A combined hybrid range of up to 1200km
    • A responsive 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine paired with an electric motor

The Tiggo 7 CSH is designed to suit drivers looking to take their first step into hybrid technology without the need to constantly plug in. In fact, even when driven without charging, the Super Hybrid system still delivers strong efficiency and smooth performance.

The Chery Tiggo 8 CSH – Affordable, Seven-Seat Flexibility

Also on the horizon is the larger Chery Tiggo 8 CSH, a seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV expected to be priced well below the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. This makes it a game-changer for families looking for space, savings, and sustainability in one versatile vehicle.

Like its smaller sibling, the Tiggo 8 CSH will boast the same Super Hybrid technology, delivering strong performance whether or not it’s plugged in – a major plus for busy Aussie households.

Smarter Hybrids with a Smoother Drive

According to Chery Australia COO Lucas Harris, the goal is to deliver a hybrid driving experience without compromise – even when the battery isn’t charged. This makes Chery’s system less intimidating and more appealing for drivers used to petrol or traditional hybrids.

“If you drive it as a hybrid and never plug it in, you still get that great driving feeling,” Harris said.

Early internal testing shows fuel consumption as low as 4.3L/100km, highlighting the efficiency gains even when running in hybrid mode only.

Modern Looks and a Smart Strategy

Both plug-in hybrid models will feature updated styling, including refreshed front fascias, tail-lights, and interior improvements. These facelifted designs elevate the already sleek Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8, making them even more attractive on the road.

Chery may even streamline its future line-up based on how well these Super Hybrids perform. If sales are strong, the focus could shift from traditional petrol-only models to hybrid-first offerings – a big step forward in emissions-friendly motoring.
