For six decades, the Tynan family has helped drive the automotive industry forward in Southern Sydney — but according to the family, people have always come first.

From humble beginnings more than 60 years ago, Tynan Motors has grown into a multi-franchise dealership group representing 19 leading automotive brands across seven locations. Yet despite the growth, the business remains proudly family owned, with third-generation family members now helping guide the company into the future.

The Tynan name has become well known not only in the automotive world, but throughout the wider community through decades of involvement in local charities, sporting organisations and community initiatives across the Sutherland Shire, Southern Sydney and the Illawarra.

The family proudly supports organisations including the Disability Trust, Southern Districts Rugby Club and St George and Sutherland Medical Research Foundation (SSMRF), while also contributing to the University of Wollongong medical research programs and maintaining strong ties with the Cronulla Sharks through community partnerships and board involvement.

Annette Tynan said community involvement has always been part of the company’s DNA.

“Our business was built in the local community, so it’s always been important for us to give back to the people and organisations that make this region so special,” Annette Tynan said.

“We’re incredibly proud to now have the third generation of our family working within the company and continuing the legacy that started over 60 years ago. We’ve grown significantly, but we still see ourselves as a family business first and foremost.”

With hundreds of staff across the group and thousands of loyal customers, Tynan Motors continues to focus on creating long-term relationships — something the family says has been the key to its longevity.
