Subaru Trailseeker Gets Even More Adventure-Ready With New Spare Wheel Kit and Towbar

Subaru's first all-electric, all-terrain wagon is getting even more capable for Australian adventures.

Subaru Australia has announced two new Genuine Subaru Australia Accessories for the all-new Subaru Trailseeker Sport Electric Vehicle™ (SEV) — a purpose-engineered towbar and locally developed Underfloor Spare Wheel Kit.

The additions are designed to give Trailseeker owners greater flexibility when heading beyond the everyday commute, whether that's towing for a weekend away, embarking on a regional NSW road trip or simply having the added reassurance of carrying a full spare wheel.

At Tynan Subaru, we're sharing the latest news from Subaru Australia and taking a closer look at how these new accessories make the Trailseeker an even more versatile electric adventure wagon for drivers across Sydney, the Sutherland Shire, Wollongong and the Illawarra.

    Meet the All-Electric Subaru Trailseeker

The Subaru Trailseeker represents a new chapter for Subaru in Australia.

As Subaru's first large all-electric, all-terrain wagon, it combines the benefits of an electric powertrain with many of the capabilities Australian Subaru drivers already know.

Its dual electric motors produce a combined 280kW, allowing the Trailseeker to accelerate from 0–100km/h in approximately 4.5 seconds under controlled testing conditions.

But this isn't an EV designed solely for city streets.

The Trailseeker features Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, dual-mode X-Mode and 211mm of ground clearance, helping extend its capability when sealed roads give way to more challenging terrain.

The Trailseeker AWD also offers a claimed driving range of up to 533km, based on ADR 81/02 laboratory testing, although real-world range will vary depending on driving and environmental conditions.

Now, Subaru Australia is making that adventure-focused package even more practical.

New Genuine Subaru Australia Towbar for Trailseeker

For the first time, a Genuine Subaru Australia Towbar is available for the Trailseeker.

Purpose-engineered for the vehicle, the towbar provides a braked towing capacity of up to 1,500kg and an unbraked towing capacity of up to 750kg, according to Subaru Australia's announcement.

That gives Trailseeker owners greater flexibility when planning road trips, weekends away and outdoor adventures.

Whether you're carrying additional recreational equipment or towing a compatible trailer, the new towbar adds another dimension to what Subaru's electric wagon can do.

Subaru advises that towing capacity remains subject to regulatory requirements and vehicle and towing-equipment limitations, so owners should always confirm their individual towing requirements before setting off.

A New Underfloor Spare Wheel Kit for Added Peace of Mind

The second major addition is Subaru Australia's new Underfloor Spare Wheel Kit.

Developed locally for Australian Trailseeker customers, the accessory provides a securely mounted and fully integrated spare wheel underneath the cargo floor.

Importantly, this means owners gain the reassurance of travelling with a spare wheel without sacrificing valuable cargo space.

That's particularly useful for Trailseeker drivers planning longer journeys or travelling into regional areas where additional peace of mind can make a real difference.

According to Subaru Australia, the Underfloor Spare Wheel Kit can be fitted to both new customer orders and Trailseeker vehicles already on the road.

Pre-orders are now open through the Subaru Retailer network, with fitment planned prior to Christmas 2026.

Why These Accessories Matter for an Electric Adventure Vehicle

Electric vehicles are becoming an increasingly familiar sight on Australian roads, but Subaru is positioning the Trailseeker as something a little different.

It's designed to combine electric driving with the all-terrain characteristics associated with the Subaru name.

Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, X-Mode and 211mm of ground clearance already provide a strong foundation for drivers wanting to venture beyond urban environments.

Adding an integrated spare wheel solution and purpose-engineered towbar makes the Trailseeker more adaptable for the kinds of trips many Australian Subaru owners actually take.

Think weekends down the South Coast, road trips from Sydney through the Illawarra, outdoor adventures beyond Wollongong or simply loading up the car and getting away for a few days.

It's electric mobility without forgetting the practicality and adventure that have long been part of the Subaru identity.

Up to 533km of Electric Driving Range

For longer journeys, the Trailseeker AWD features a 74.7kWh battery and delivers up to 533km of claimed driving range under ADR 81/02 testing.

It also supports up to 150kW DC fast charging, with Subaru stating the battery can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 30 minutes under suitable conditions. Charging times can vary substantially depending on the charger, battery condition, temperature and other factors.

For customers with access to three-phase power, the Trailseeker also supports up to 22kW AC charging.

The combination provides Trailseeker owners with several charging options depending on where and how they use their vehicle.

    Designed for Weekdays and Weekends

One of the most appealing parts of the Trailseeker package is its versatility.

During the week, it's a spacious five-seat electric wagon equipped with contemporary technology, safety systems and the instant response of a dual-motor electric powertrain.

When the weekend arrives, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, X-Mode, generous ground clearance and Subaru Genuine Accessories help transform it into a vehicle designed to go further.

Subaru also offers a broader range of Genuine Accessories for the Trailseeker, including roof cross bars, bicycle holders, cargo accessories and lifestyle equipment.

The new towbar and Underfloor Spare Wheel Kit take that versatility another step further.

Electric Driving Without Leaving Adventure Behind

The Trailseeker demonstrates that moving to an electric vehicle doesn't necessarily mean giving up on adventure.

With 280kW of dual-motor power, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, X-Mode, 211mm of ground clearance and up to 533km of claimed range, the Trailseeker already brings a distinctly Subaru approach to electric mobility.

Now, the availability of a Genuine Subaru Australia Towbar and locally developed Underfloor Spare Wheel Kit adds even more flexibility.

For customers who want the benefits of electric driving while retaining practicality for weekends away, regional travel and outdoor lifestyles, Subaru has made the Trailseeker an even more compelling proposition.
